About the Bookshop
History
The RIAS Bookshop is based in The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS) building in Edinburgh's west end. The RIAS was founded in 1916 as the professional body for all chartered architects in Scotland and is the foremost Institute in the country dealing with architecture and the built environment. What we offer in the RIAS Bookshop
We sell Contracts, including all of the popular Scottish Building Contracts and RIAS Appointment Forms, as well as Books on architecture and design. We have a selection of architectural-themed gifts, cards and postcards. These are all available in store and online from our specialist bookshop. RIAS Bookshop Gift Vouchers are available, please call us or pop in.
We work with the RIAS Events Team to encourage members, students and customers to join us to celebrate the launch of new books, which also provide opportunities to socialise in our Members' Room.
Opening times and holidays closure
The RIAS Bookshop is open from 10:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday. Please note that the bookshop will be closed on the following 2026 public holidays:
- Thursday 1 January - New Year's Day
- Friday 3 January - Public Holiday
- Friday 3 April - Good Friday
- Monday 6 April - Easter Monday
- Monday 13 April - Early Spring Public Holiday
- Monday 4 May - May Day Public Holiday
- Monday 25 May - Late Spring Public Holiday
- Monday 15 June - Scotland World Cup Public Holiday
- Monday 14 September - Autumn Public Holiday
- Friday 25 December - Christmas Day*
- Monday 28 December - Boxing Day Replacement*
Orders can be placed via the RIAS online bookshop 24 hours a day all year round, however they are only processed for dispatch during our standard shop opening hours.
