This history of Stockbridge is published to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the death of Sir Henry Raeburn, one of Stockbridge's most distinguished residents and a significant figure in the area's early development.
The book is in two parts. The first recounts the history of Stockbridge’s growth from a small village to today’s thriving neighbourhood. The second contains 50 biographical sketches of Stockbridge's inhabitants, spanning 250 years, each linked to a different street. Included, alongside famous and infamous residents are many whose fascinating lives are little known or never previously recounted.
